No one is quite sure what it is. Could be a sampler to show off drip points, or a battery rest insulator.

Libby Dishes

These dishes were made at the Hemingray plant during the "Owens Illinois years". These pieces are "Libby Glass". The Muncie Hemingray/Owens IL site was a Libby glass plant.

Ashtrays

The star shaped ashtrays come in clear, amber and smoke glass. There are 4 sizes. The square ones come in the same colors as the star ones but only 1 size

Round style. Only found in clear.

This is a Hemingray "glass head". These are very rare (This is the only one I know of). Thanks to Dean for the photo of this! This lamp shade was patented on May 14, 1878. Below is a scan of the patent for this piece.
Hemingray frogs were made in the 1930's by workers during down time at the factory. The original ones come in ice blue and 7 Up-green. When Hemingray/Owens-Illinois closed its doors an employee of the plant got to take the mold. The mold has been used to reproduce these frogs. Thanks to Jim and Earl for sharing these pieces with me.

Gray & Hemingray Bros. Jar

This jar is from the time period of 1857-1860. It is the only known example of a Hemingray glass item with the Gray & Hemingray bros embossing on it. Most likely this jar was used for photographic development. as Peter Smith (P Smith is embossed on the jar) has patents for Photographic related process
